Alec was most recently Head of Partnerships at Atomic Invest (YC S20), a Series A fintech backed by QED Investors, SoftBank and Anthemis. He was mainly responsible for new deal execution, corporate development and business operations. Over a span of 2.5 years, Alec helped Atomic grow its customer base over 10x. This has resulted in a revenue run rate of $3M+ of which upward of 50% can be attributed to deals he helped or wholly executed. From an operations perspective, he has helped streamline many partnerships and onboarding related processes, manifesting itself in materially improved processing times in the realm of reduced sales cycle to ~30 days from 90+ days (65%+ improvement), and decreasing customer onboarding times to 1-3 days from 1 week+ (85%+ improvement), to name a few.
Prior to joining Atomic, Alec founded Nantucket Consulting Partners (now dba Waveson Advisory Partners), a partnership driven consulting model specializing in corporate finance and operational services for companies and capital providers across all industry verticals. As the sole consultant at Nantucket, he was able to average the support of 3-5 clients at one time without any disruption in service or missed deadlines. Prior to Nantucket, Alec was the VP Finance at Glendale Ventures, a Sixth Street Partners backed $500MM+ platform focused on investments in real assets, where he was responsible for M&A, portfolio management, investor relations and risk mitigation. At Glendale, he led the investment committee on deal evaluations and decision making regarding 500+ prospective buying opportunities including asset purchases, joint ventures, royalties and new capital alternatives. He also built the Finance department around a team to decrease deal underwriting process times to 24-48 hours from 1-2 weeks. Prior to Glendale, Alec was a Senior Finance Associate at Aethon Energy, a private energy and industrials focused fund alongside Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and RedBird Capital, where he played a critical role in growing business operations from <$20MM to >$350MM in EBITDA over the span of 3 years. During that same time, he helped execute over 10 acquisitions totaling over $1bn. Alec began his career at both KeyBank Capital Markets and Macquarie Capital where he gained experience in credit lending, debt / equity capital raises and M&A advisory, totaling >$5 billion in transaction value.
Alec graduated from The University of Texas at Austin's Red McCombs School of Business with an undergraduate degree in Corporate Finance and a minor in Accounting. He was also a member of the ice hockey team.
